Piper Niven has claimed on social media today that she and a popular WWE star were the highlight of SmackDown. The veteran has not competed in a match on the blue brand since October 25.

The 33-year-old is currently in a tag team with Chelsea Green on the blue brand and the popular duo had an impressive reign as the Women's Tag Team Champions last year. Niven took to her X (fka Twitter) account today to respond to a message from a wrestling fan.

The fan shared a compilation video of the former Women's Tag Team Champions and Niven reacted by claiming they were the stars of SmackDown.

"The stars of Friday nights 🤩," wrote Niven.

Chelsea Green and Piper Niven will both be competing in the tournament on SmackDown to determine the inaugural Women's United States Champion. Bayley defeated Candice LeRae and B-Fab to advance in the tournament last Friday night.

The first Women's United States Champion will be crowned at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.

Vince Russo urges WWE to push Piper Niven

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently urged the company to push Piper Niven due to her personality.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown show, Russo questioned the company's booking of Niven and wondered why she lost the majority of her matches. He noted that she had an entertaining personality, but the company was not giving her enough material to work with on SmackDown.

"I don't know what Piper Niven jobs to everybody. I have no idea. I wish I was writing for Piper Niven. With what they've given her, you can see personality there. This girl has personality; you gotta feed her. You gotta give her material. This is the biggest issue I have with that," he said. [From 26:50 onwards]

Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville initially won the Women's Tag Team Championship together. However, Deville tore her ACL last year and Piper Niven was named as her replacement. Niven and Green held the titles for 154 days before dropping them to Katana Chance and Kayden Carter last December.

It will be interesting to see if the company has anything substantial planned for Niven moving forward on WWE SmackDown.
