This week's episode of WWE SmackDown was stacked and included an incredible Triple-Threat Tag Team Championship Ladder match. DIY, The Street Profits, and The Bloodline left it all in the ring, but in the end, Tonga Loa climbed the ladder and secured the win.
Following the show, Fightful Select revealed that DIY had undergone a subtle name change and was now known as #DIY on the internal plans.
#DIY was one of the names that Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were known by during their time in NXT and it was used on their merchandise ahead of their split. The duo have been known as just DIY since reuniting on the main roster, but this could change now that Triple H is in charge.
The Game was behind their push as #DIY in NXT, so this could be his way of allowing the duo to return to their roots. Despite the change, the duo still came up short in the main event ladder match, and it's unclear where this now leaves them in the title picture.
Will #DIY be given another shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship?
#DIY has had several shots at the titles in recent months, and it seems that since they have come up short on SmackDown, the former NXT Tag Team Champions could be pushed to the back of the line.
The Bloodline have The Street Profits as their main challengers at the moment and this could be the story heading into Crown Jewel next month.
It will be interesting to see if #DIY is now taken off TV or if there is something on WWE SmackDown that they can step into. With rumors that the show is extending to three hours, they could be added to another undercard tag team feud.
