The main goal of a WWE Superstar is to win championship gold. There are currently 16 titles available for the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT rosters to compete for, and now one veteran star has moved one step closer to the opportunity of a lifetime.
The latest WWE Speed tournament kicked off this week with Joaquin Wilde vs. Axiom. The Legado del Fantasma member defeated the NXT Tag Team Champion with 4 seconds left of the 3-minute time limit. He will face the winner of Friday's match between Pete Dunne and Julius Creed. The bottom bracket of this tournament features Austin Theory vs. Montez Ford, and Ashante "Thee" Adonis vs. Je'Von Evans. The Wilde vs. Dunne or Creed winner will eventually face Theory, Ford, Evans, or Adonis in the semifinals, and that winner will challenge Andrade for the Speed Championship later in August.
The Filipino Flex Factory took to Instagram today to tout his win over El Niño Anónimo. Wilde looked ahead to the next match and a potential shot at the championship against Andrade. The 20-year veteran also encouraged fans to watch the full match exclusively on X.
"Big win today on #WWESpeed! One step closer to getting a shot at the Speed Championship. On to the next round! Watch the full match on X," Joaquin Wilde wrote with the photo below.

Andrade became the second Speed Champion by defeating Ricochet in mid-June, and has since retained over Xavier Woods and Baron Corbin. Wilde has never held a title in World Wrestling Entertainment. The former DJ Zema Ion is a two-time TNA X-Division Champion and a one-time TNA Tag Team Champion.
WWE Speed updates on match producers
Pete Dunne began working as a backstage producer earlier this year, producing WWE Speed matches, while also competing in the tournament. The company has also had Nick Aldis, Shawn Daivari, and Kenn Doane producing matches for the X-exclusive show.
The recent match between Speed Champion Andrade and Baron Corbin was produced by Aldis, according to Fightful Select. For the current tournament, today's match between Axiom and winner Joaquin Wilde was produced by Dunne. Monday's match between The BruiserWeight and Julius Creed was produced by Doane.
Triple H recently hyped up the future of Speed on X. The Chief Content Officer revealed that the show was averaging 1.5 million views per episode at the 20-episode mark.
