The duo of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have made a name for themselves wrestling in various promotions. They revolutionized tag team wrestling for over a decade before finally showing up to the big leagues last week to become one of the greatest tag teams of all time.

On a recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran pointed out that WWE was looking at the two stars as veterans. He detailed that Shelley and Sabin were at a point in their career where they could also help young up-and-coming talent. Cornette noted that they could also take up roles within the production team once their in-ring careers ended.

"I think in this case, they also potentially may see something in Shelley and Sabin as far as transitioning them, that's a bad connotation these days. But with an eye towards them becoming agents because they are of that age now that they can do all this stuff in the ring and also communicate with the younger generation." Cornette continued, "They can talk to the executives but they can also talk to the young people. So maybe they can be a conduit. That's probably what they are looking at also I would think or hope." The Motor City Machine Guns are the new WWE Tag Team Champions

This week's episode of SmackDown was a historic night for The Motor City Machine Guns as they defeated The Bloodline to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

Despite being goaded by Solo Sikoa and his henchmen to take the fight right after defeating #DIY, Shelley and Sabin put on a valiant effort. Things turned out in their favor as Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and even Jey Uso showed up to ensure that The Bloodline could not use any underhanded tactics.

This allowed Sabin and Shelley to hit the Skull and Bones on Tonga Loa for the win. Later, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H also congratulated the Motor City Machine Guns for winning championship gold just three matches into their WWE tenure.
