To utilise several wrestlers of the main roster, who were not getting the opportunities they deserve, WWE announced a Draft to separate the brands as RAW and SmackDown Live. This decision also helped in reviving Smackdown which had became nothing more than a secondary show.
Vince McMahon stated that he wants competition between both the brands as it will lead to the development of the weekly shows in every possible aspect. According to several critics, Smackdown has been beating the weekly product of Monday Night RAW despite being far behind in ratings.
Cruiserweights were made exclusive to the red brand to spice up the RAW roster. The on-air personnel are often taking shots at the rival brand to heat up the scenario. However, there has not been any physical altercation between the two brands to showcase their supremacy.
But which is the better brand? Apparently, it can be determined by one possible way and that is in-ring dominance.
After the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, which is exclusive to RAW, WWE’s next marquee event is the Survivor Series. This past week on SmackDown, Shane McMahon and the general manager of the brand Daniel Bryan invited RAW to participate in three traditional tag team elimination matches to determine the superior brand.
In the upcoming edition of RAW, the red brand will reveal their opinions regarding the challenge made by the blue team.
If it is accepted, a five-on-five elimination tag match will be contested between the top five male wrestlers of both brands and a similar match will take place between the female wrestlers of the respective shows. Another traditional Survivor Series match will take place amongst the five best tag teams of RAW and SmackDown Live.
Some rumours suggest that these tag matches represent the concept of the Bragging Rights pay-per-view and the victorious brand will be awarded a trophy. Moreover, they may get the opportunity to bring up to three superstars of the losing brand in their own show.
Although this is only a rumour, it will be pretty exciting if WWE proceeds with this idea. A few wrestlers of the red brand seem un-utilised and bringing them over to ‘the land of opportunities’ may rejuvenate their tenure in WWE.
