Former WWE star EC3 recently spoke about Randy Orton possibly turning heel after returning to Stamford and kickstarting a feud with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
The Viper has been out of action since May 2022, and fans have been anticipating his WWE return. With recent rumors suggesting that his in-ring return could be closer than ever now, there's palpable excitement among viewers.
While it's anyone's guess what he would do upon return, it's safe to assume Randy Orton would be pushed as a major threat on whichever brand he's assigned to. On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 explained that following a few months of a babyface run, WWE could turn Orton into a heel.
The NWA World Heavyweight Champion feels this would open doors for the promotion to book a marquee feud between The Viper and Seth Rollins. EC3 is also optimistic about the fact that Orton would return to WWE fitter than ever.
"Let that run for a few months, and then Randy Orton is also a sinister guy. Just turn him into a heel. Then he can work with Rollins. Now you got another program. That's good business because I would be down to see both of those matches. You got a guy like Randy Orton with fresh legs, rejuvenated, been gone for a little bit, there's no creative stink in it. It's almost like a clean slate, he's retcon, but he's still a legend. He's still one of the best, which is truly a gift," said EC3. [3:30 - 4:04]

Road Dogg on his first meeting with Randy Orton
On a recent episode of his Oh You Didn't Know? podcast Road Dogg remembered being impressed with Randy Orton's work the very first time he saw him perform. WWE's Senior Vice President of Live Events added that The Viper had an understanding of how to compete on live TV right from the beginning of his career.
"I told Randy right to his face [the] first time I ever met him, 'You're the best I've ever seen at this.' What I was talking about was TV wrestling, working the cameras, working his facials, working his entrance. Everything is contemplated and executed with television perfection in mind, and very rarely does he come up short," said Road Dogg.
Considering how much fans have missed him over the last year, one could only imagine the kind of monster pop Orton would generate when he returns to WWE.
