Randy Orton had a rough night at WWE Bash in Berlin when he passed out in a sleeper hold and lost his chance to become a 15-time world champion. The crowd were clearly behind Orton throughout the match except one fan it seems.
When Orton made his way to the ring, he was about to do his signature pose on the top rope when he saw a sign that said "If Orton wins, we riot" a throwback to ECW One Night Stand 2006. This apparently forced him to audibly swear and break character briefly on the top rope.
Orton noted ahead of the show that he was 70% German and was the face in this match, but it seems that there were several fans who were backing Gunther throughout and this sign seemed to really get to Orton.
Orton did have several decent spells in the match, but was mostly dominated by The Ring General.
Where does this damaging WWE championship loss leave Randy Orton?
Orton wanted to become a 15-time world champion and he doesn't have a lot of time left in his career at this height and he made that clear ahead of this weekend's show. It's unknown where Orton will fit back in now since he made the move to WWE RAW to be able to challenge Gunther.
Prior to the move, he was part of the story with Cody Rhodes, who was successful in his title match against Kevin Owens. Randy Orton could reunite with Rhodes following his loss since Rhodes will need the backup heading into a match against Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline.
With Roman Reigns' return date unknown following his issues with his family, it seems that Owens and Orton could be set to reprise their role alongside Rhodes to help him heading into Bad Blood in October.
