Randy Orton is at the peak of his popularity at this point, and it's a given that if all goes well, he will have a marquee match at SummerSlam 2024. Sam Roberts believes The Viper could have a showdown with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at The Biggest Part of The Summer this August.
The recent Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event saw Randy Orton and Kevin Owens come to save Cody Rhodes following an attack on The American Nightmare by The Bloodline. However, the segment also showed a minor moment where The Viper could be seen staring at Cody's Undisputed Title.

This immediately raised expectations for a potential clash between the fan-favorite performers. During the latest episode of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts stated that WWE could be building to a match between Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes.
"Randy Orton came out to help Cody [Rhodes], but he was also staring at that title. I think we'll get the six-man tag on SmackDown. You'll see Cody, Randy, and KO, or we can flirt with the idea of Randy being invested in that title again, vs. Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa. At some point, you got to, right? But for me, you could wait; you don't have to do Solo vs. Cody at Money in the Bank. You could hold that off for SummerSlam," Roberts said.
He added that if the 11-time WWE champion (one-time Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion, four-time RAW Tag Team Champion, one-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and three-time World Tag Team Champion) finished his business with The Bloodline at Money in the Bank 2024, it could open doors for a match against Randy Orton at SummerSlam.
"But what if you had this scenario, where it's Solo vs. Cody, and Cody Rhodes beats Solo Sikoa? Well, if Cody Rhodes beats Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank, that opens the field for you to get to Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam for sure," he added. (35:10-36:14)
Matt Camp thinks Cody Rhodes could lose his title to Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2024!
During a recent episode of his podcast, The Wrestling Matt, the former host of WWE's The Bump spoke about how The Apex Predator could be the toughest challenger for The American Nightmare.
Matt Camp even claimed he could see The Viper emerging victorious at SummerSlam 2024, only for Cody Rhodes to regain the title later at Survivor Series.
"To me, Randy would be his first legitimate challenge to that championship. I didn't think AJ was winning either match. I didn't think Logan Paul was winning either match. Nobody else did either. But Randy Orton, super heel Randy Orton, at SummerSlam against Cody Rhodes, [it's] very believable to see Randy walk out with the WWE Championship on that night; not to say he would keep it forever; not to say he would even keep it for a long time. Cody would get that title back, maybe by Survivor Series. That's okay to have him chase a little bit," he said.
Cody and Orton's last singles match against each other came on an episode of RAW in 2013, where the latter emerged victorious.
