Randy Orton evades surprise attack from current WWE champion

A popular WWE Superstar failed in his latest attempt to hit Randy Orton with an RKO. The name is Tag Team Champion Tommaso Ciampa.

The 39-year-old and his DIY teammate, Johnny Gargano, defeated A-Town Under to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions on the July 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. It is the duo's first-ever title reign on the main roster.

DIY's Johnny Gargano recently took to X (fka Twitter) to share a video of his tag team partner trying to hit an RKO Outta Nowhere on Randy Orton. Ciampa has been trying to do so for several weeks now.

This time around, he tried to bait The Apex Predator by sending his daughter to ask for an autograph. However, the plan did not work, as Ciampa hilariously crashed on the floor.

"We pulled out all the stops this week in Worcester, MA. Big #DunKing energy and our secret weapon... all to finally RKO the Viper. #OuttaNowhere #DIYRKO @CiampaWWE @RandyOrton," wrote Gargano.

Randy Orton was on the receiving end of a brutal attack last week on Friday Night SmackDown from The Bloodline. The Solo Sikoa-led faction tied Cody Rhodes to the ring ropes and put Orton through the announcer's desk.

Former WWE Superstar claims Randy Orton could turn on Cody Rhodes after what happened last week

After last week's SmackDown, a veteran performer made an interesting claim regarding the storyline involving Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Tommy Dreamer predicted that Orton could turn on The American Nightmare following the events of the blue brand's show. Rhodes ignored the 14-time world champion's advice from earlier the same night, which did not end well for the latter.

"If you think about Randy Orton, like, he kinda warned you, Cody, and then yet he has to get his a** kicked for you. That's the story that could be told if Randy, like you and I had talked about, ever turns on Cody," Dreamer said. [8:57 - 9:08]

Cody Rhodes is scheduled to defend his title against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see how The Bloodline deals with Orton and Kevin Owens ahead of the premium live event to give Sikoa the upper hand in the title match.
