Samantha Irvin has amassed a large following thanks to her impressive WWE ring announcements. Legendary reporter Bill Apter believes a former member of the broadcast team, Kayla Braxton, was on a similar level to the popular announcer.
Braxton, real name Kayla Becker, left WWE in June after almost eight years with the company. The 33-year-old had a good rapport with several superstars and on-screen personalities, most notably, Paul Heyman. She was also known for hosting The Bump and Talking Smack.
Apter appeared on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine show with host, Mac Davis and WWE Hall of Famer, Teddy Long. Reflecting on Braxton's departure, Apter compared the former SmackDown interviewer to Irvin.
"In terms of a backstage interviewer, when I first saw her in her formative days, it was okay, but she's become backstage equal to like what Samantha Irvin has become in WWE as a ring announcer. She was comfortable, she had great delivery, and she was a really good interviewer. The talent knew her, so if they improvised at all they could work off her, which is very important as a backstage interviewer," he said. [5:38 – 6:10]

Bill Apter on his interactions with Kayla Braxton in WWE
After her exit was confirmed, Kayla Braxton said on The Ring Generals that she plans to explore opportunities outside the wrestling industry. She also revealed she recently filmed a movie.
Bill Apter added that he only had positive conversations with Braxton whenever he saw her behind the scenes at events. He also noted that she wanted to try her hand at several other avenues and wished her luck.
"I met her dozens of times backstage at the shows. What an absolute sweetheart. So she's got other things she wants to do right now, I'm not exactly sure what they are, but good luck to her. You absolutely blew me away with your interview style," said Apter. [6:11 – 6:28]
Teddy Long also provided his take on what the future could hold for Braxton away from the wrestling business.
