Rey Mysterio breaks character; says 27-year-old WWE star will "definitely" be a future World Champion

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio recently couldn't hide his paternal pride. In a rare break from kayfabe, the veteran voiced his belief that his son, Dominik Mysterio is destined for greatness.

Ever since Dirty Dom betrayed his father to align with the Judgment Day faction, the two have been sharing an on-screen rivalry. The father-son duo also went one-on-one at WrestleMania 39, where The Master of the 619 emerged victorious.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Rey Mysterio dropped his on-screen persona to praise his son and declared that Dirty Dom will surely be a World Champion in the future.

"Yeah, most definitely. Dom is getting really good at what he’s doing and he’s understanding the craft. The fact that he’s where he’s at with such little time, I wish I could be there, or I could have been there with four years of being in the business. I didn’t know sh*t at 4 years. [Look who he’s learned from] Not only me, I mean that, yes, I am his father," he said.

The 49-year-old WWE legend mentioned that young Mysterio sharing the ring with names such as Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and others has given him the advantage to enhance his pro wrestling skills.

"But the fact that he’s been able to be in there with the best Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, John Cena. All these moments are moments that give you the ability to learn. So I think he’s taken very well advantage of those moments and has added him to his career," Rey added. (H/T CVV)

Dominik Mysterio laid hands on Rey Mysterio on WWE RAW

On this week's edition of Monday Night RAW, Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega were involved in a promo segment. Dirty Dom interfered and stood beside the current WWE Women's World Champion as the two are associated with a romantic angle in the absence of Rhea Ripley.

Things went south after Morgan attacked the LWO member and got into a brawl before Rey Mysterio stepped into the ring to stop them. However, Dominik Mysterio pushed his father, seemingly in an attempt to defend Liv Morgan.

It remains to be seen if the former NXT North American Champion completely gives in to the former Riott Squad member's seduction before Mami returns to WWE.
