Rey Mysterio is presently signed to WWE RAW, but the luchador legend's run in World Wrestling Entertainment is arguably best remembered on SmackDown. It was on the blue brand where he won his World Championship, among many other noteworthy milestones.

Last Friday, Nick Aldis informed Carmelo Hayes that the former NXT Champion will have to step into the ring against a "special" opponent. This mystery has created intrigue among fans as to who it could be. Hayes has now asked Aldis on social media whether it is the Latino World Order's leader.

Taking to X, Carmelo Hayes shared a picture of Rey Mysterio with a question mark, making sure SmackDown's sheriff, Nick Aldis, is keeping an eye on it.

"? @RealNickAldis," Carmelo Hayes wrote.

Meanwhile, WWE analyst Sam Roberts speculated whether Nick Aldis has someone that nobody has thought about in mind as Carmelo Hayes's next opponent, a man Aldis has history with dating back to their days in TNA.

Rey Mysterio is ready to retire after facing Dominik in a "Hair vs. Mask" match

In the last two years, Rey and Dominik Mysterio have faced each other in singles and tag team action at WrestleMania. During an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Emily Mae, the WWE Hall of Famer shared his honest sentiments regarding retirement.

He revealed that he is ready to put his career on the line against his son in a "Hair vs. Mask" match, a stipulation best known in the luchador scene, where Rey's roots are. The masked man admitted that at this point, the options are there, and he has not made up his mind, but 'Dirty' Dom is an ideal final opponent:

"I don't think I have an opponent in mind, but if I had to put all my marbles on the line, I wouldn't mind betting my mask against something big, something worth me winning for the very last time. I don't know who that is. I mean, would Dom put his hair on the line? Mask versus hair? Why not? Yeah, that might be a great option."

In Cardiff, Wales, WWE brought Clash at the Castle in 2022, where Dominik Mysterio ended his alliance with Rey Mysterio. The two have not seen eye to eye ever since.
