While WWE and AEW have revived the competitive atmosphere in pro wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment's last big rival was WCW, from where many talents jumped ship. Vince Russo recently opened up about X-Pac's jump to WWE and why it happened in the late 1990s.
X-Pac, aka Sean Waltman, spent a year in WCW, where he began as a member of the famed nWo. Waltman's time in the now-defunct company was largely forgettable as he left for WWE in 1998.
Upon his return, he joined D-Generation X, and Vince Russo was recently asked whether that was always the plan had Shawn Michaels not gone on a four-year retirement.
Russo revealed on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW that Vince McMahon would have always signed X-Pac as he was "unhappy" in WCW due to various political problems, mostly stemming from his strained relationship with head booker Eric Bischoff.

Vince Russo claimed that X-Pac wasn't a "political guy," and due to his close ties with Triple H, a comeback was a no-brainer.
"Oh yeah, definitely. We'd definitely would have brought Sean in, yes. He was just really, really unhappy there. Really unhappy there, yeah. I don't think he was a big fan of Bischoff, and I think, obviously, he was still tight with Hunter. Sean is not a political guy, man. He is not a political guy and it was politics there, so." The 52-year-old X-Pac looks impressively jacked ahead of his scheduled appearance on the next NXT episode, which will also interestingly feature his former WCW boss, Eric Bischoff.
