The history of WWE arguably includes many controversial moments, on-screen and in real life. As an ECW Original, Rob Van Dam is no stranger to controversy. The wrestling legend has just dropped a massive allegation against a big name related to a WWE controversy.
The Whole F'N Show was among those interviewed for Vice's Dark Side of the Ring episode covering WWE's infamous 'Plane Ride from Hell', which aired on September 16, 2021. The "plane ride from hell" refers to WWE's chartered flight from London to the United States after Insurrextion on May 4, 2002.
Flying on a Boeing 757 with an open bar, several WWE names took part in alcohol-fueled abuse, shenanigans, and debauchery. Several stars including Ric Flair, Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, Dustin Rhodes, Kurt Angle, and others were a part of the flight. There were also several accusations about two female flight attendants being sexually assaulted.
RVD recently made a few revelations while discussing the 'Plane Ride from Hell' episode on his 1 Of A Kind podcast. The 34-year veteran said he had no idea producers were going to edit the show to make it seem like he claimed to witness Flair trying to make one of the flight attendants touch him below the belt. Van Dam said that's how his comments were portrayed on the show, but that's not what he meant.
"I didn’t see that, didn't say I did. I was coaxed or coached into those words, didn’t realize at the time. I didn’t have a problem with it because it also described what I did see, which wasn’t nearly that bad. So, I was just saying, 'You know, he was all up on her, crowding her space, like trying to make her touch him. She couldn’t get around him without having to touch him.' Was he trying to make her touch him? Well... she would've had to, but they asked if I could say, 'I saw him trying to make her touch it.' I was like, 'Yeah, he was trying to make her touch him,'" Rob Van Dam said. [H/T to RSN]
Mr. Pay-Per-View revealed this was the first time he told this story, adding that he's still responsible for what comes from his mouth, and doesn't want to blame producers for him "being a puppet, stupid enough to say their words."
RVD wants a spot on John Cena's WWE retirement tour
John Cena and Rob Van Dam shared the ring twenty times from 2003 - 2014. They had several singles bouts, including RVD's WWE Championship win at ECW One Night Stand 2006 and the No Contest rematch two weeks later.
Van Dam is ready for another round with the 16-time world champion. The Cenation Leader is preparing for his 2025 retirement tour, and RVD declared his desire for another match while discussing Cena on his 1 Of A Kind podcast.
"I hope they bring me in for a rematch with Cena. That would be super cool. I don’t know if they know, but I know I could have that same match. Absolutely," Rob Van Dam said.
It remains to be seen how things pan out during Cena's retirement tour and who he faces during the year-long run.
