On this week's episode of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes finally came face-to-face for the first time in months.
Earlier this year, Reigns successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39. The match ended on a controversial note after Solo Sikoa's interference led to a victory for Reigns.
On SmackDown, Rhodes and Jey Uso successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships against Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Post-match, The Bloodline confronted the tag team champions, leading to an intense face-to-face between Reigns and Rhodes.

According to reports, Roman Reigns is expected to face Cody Rhodes in a huge rematch at WrestleMania 40.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE's plan is to have The American Nightmare headline next year's WrestleMania as well. Meltzer said:
“His storyline is that the belt that his father didn’t win – which is apparently Roman’s belt – that’s the one, that’s the story. So basically, he almost has said it’s next year’s WrestleMania, which is the plan right now."
As of right now, though, Reigns' next title defense is expected to be against LA Knight at Crown Jewel. On SmackDown, The Megastar confronted the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, upon his return to WWE after his hiatus.
