Roman Reigns returning to WWE at SummerSlam surprised many fans, as evidenced by the cheers at the event. According to Hall of Famer Bill Apter, despite his popularity, Reigns cannot control a particular aspect of his character.

The Original Tribal Chief has played both heel and babyface gimmicks over the years, with the former comparatively receiving much more praise. Reigns' comeback at WWE SummerSlam seems to have positioned him as a face again, as he took down the villainous Solo Sikoa. However, Bill Apter believes this does not mean that the 39-year-old is locked into his role as a fan favorite.

On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter explained how fans determined a star's gimmick with their live reactions.

"Look what happened when Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the heel, went against the babyface Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. The fans chose Hogan as the babyface in that match. So the fans love and are enthralled by Roman Reigns being back. So if they booed him, he would be a heel again. It's just, the fans out there watching it live, and on TV and on streaming, decide what you are gonna be." [5:06 onwards]

Bill Apter thinks two more Samoan names may join WWE

Hall of Famer Bill Apter speculated that the return of Roman Reigns at this time could be a hint that several other names will join his side soon.

On the same episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, Apter predicted that stars like Lance Anoa'i and Zilla Fatu might help even the odds against Solo Sikoa's team.

"You know there was no Jey Uso on this card for some reason. I don't know why. But he was in town. He was on SmackDown the night before. He was in the building with some other Samoan people (...) I think just seeing them in town, is that Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, maybe Zilla Fatu, nah he might be too much of a heel for Roman's side. Lance Anoa'i and maybe Jimmy Uso, coming back, I think that's where this is going," he said. [3:33 onwards]

As of now, only time will tell what is next for Roman Reigns in WWE. Will he recruit new names to his potential faction? Fans must stay tuned to find out.
