WWE star Roman Reigns recently reflected on his ongoing storyline in the company. The star is gearing up for a huge WarGames match at Survivor Series.
After losing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL, Reigns took some time off. He returned at SummerSlam and instantly got into a feud with Solo Sikoa, who had taken control of The Bloodline in his absence.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Reigns mentioned he felt relieved that fans reacted favorably during his return. The star detailed that WWE kept up the storyline while he was away, setting the stage for his eventual return. He was glad he became a babyface overnight without even being on TV.
"I guess it's more of a relief than anything because I think everybody goes through the whole 'Are they gonna care?' I can say I was very blessed being that that our storyline was continued and we have such strong characters where we're keeping everything relevant. So, there was a buildup for me. Lo and behold, I became a babyface without doing anything and not even being onscreen. I think that's a testament to I guess all the hard work, collaboration, storytelling, and all the equity we put into this thing." [From 1:11 - 1:50]
Roman Reigns will lead his team into WarGames
It will be a blockbuster night this Saturday as Roman Reigns leads The Usos and Sami Zayn into WarGames against the New Bloodline. The Original Tribal Chief will also have the support of former WWE Champion CM Punk to take down Solo and his henchmen.
Paul Heyman delivered a major coup as he enlisted The Straight Edge Superstar as the fifth and final member of the team. However, Roman Reigns and CM Punk have quite a complicated history and will look to settle it this week on SmackDown.
It will be interesting to see if the two megastars can keep their differences aside and work together at Survivor Series.
