Roman Reigns is widely expected to return at SummerSlam 2024, presumably after the main event's conclusion. An ex-WWE writer doesn't think the way Reigns' comeback will be booked will be helpful to a 31-year-old star.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo discussed the main event of SummerSlam between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. He believed WWE had backed itself into a corner because Cody Rhodes could not lose and the outcome would ruin Sikoa's momentum.
Vince Russo thinks that WWE would have Cody Rhodes win at SummerSlam before The Bloodline gives him a beatdown. He thinks that using this as a way to set up Reigns' return would do nothing for Sikoa.
"They would book it that Cody [Rhodes] beats him, the heels get their heat back and Roman Reigns returns at the end. That's how I think they would book it, that does zero for Solo Sikoa." (1:46 - 2:06)

Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) thinks another legend could fill Roman Reigns' spot
There's always that absence of a top figure when The Tribal Chief is away, especially since he has adopted a lighter schedule. That's why the question of having a replacement for him is always there.
On the Rebooked Wrestling Podcast, Matthew Rehwoldt, formerly known as Aiden English in WWE, said Randy Orton could replace Roman Reigns as the top heel in the company.
"I think Randy could fill that, depending on when he's coming back, Roman Reigns kind of role. He's kind of big-time, stoic heel champion; he's that kind of personality. [Does he get another championship run?] He could. He's still in incredible shape," English said. (From 16:10 to 16:32)
Although Randy Orton was taken out by The Bloodline in the build-up to SummerSlam, his not-so-subtle eyeballing of Cody Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship has been a big enough tease of him turning heel soon.
