Segment featuring AEW's Jon Moxley called "extremely important" by top WWE Superstar

A popular WWE Superstar has stated that an iconic segment involving AEW star Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose) was "extremely important." The superstar Seth Rollins hinted that The Shield's breakup changed the industry forever.

In mid-2014, Seth Rollins betrayed Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose on an episode of RAW. He thus turned heel and joined forces with The Authority. All three members of The Shield went on to become megastars and are still doing incredibly well.

In an interview on The Pivot Podcast, Seth Rollins opened up about the breakup of The Shield. He had the following to say about the legendary segment:

"I think to me, that was an extremely important moment in our industry [breaking out the Shield]. If you look, in 2014, business was not great. In 2014, we were not doing great. Television ratings were kind of doing this [signals downwards], going to streaming, live events not doing good, talent roster is not doing great, you know, Rollins said.

He continued:

"We come in 2012, we want to make a huge impact, we do great as The Shield, but like, we got to... you know. It's three guys in one act. You got to have three acts right? So we break The Shield up. That's a huge moment. That right there... that moment took all of us, all three of us, myself, Roman, Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley, in separate trajectories." [39:24-40:15]

Jon Moxley is now one of the biggest names in AEW

Moxley left WWE in 2019. He made his massive debut in All Elite Wrestling mere weeks later, at its first show, Double Or Nothing 2019.

Jon Moxley has won the AEW World Heavyweight Championship four times and is the current champion. In past interviews, he has had nothing but praise for Tony Khan and AEW and seems quite happy with his standing on the roster.
