John Cena has garnered the reputation of being a selfless legend after his part-time run with the Stamford-based company kicked off in late 2015-mid-2016. A former World Champion thinks that Cena may not allow WWE to pull off a major move because he is too selfless.

On the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, host Dr. Chris Featherstone asked former WWE writer Vince Russo and former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 about John Cena's retirement run. The questions were centered specifically around whether Cena should win a 17th World Title.

EC3 was fully supportive of the idea of John Cena winning the historic World Championship but added that he thought that Cena was too selfless to allow WWE to give him that run. However, EC3 did state that it's was an intriguing idea and he would like to see it happen:

"I think it's good business because we're talking about it. John Cena's on his last run. It's a great story. Either way, we wouldn't know what would happen. I don't personally know if he would want to break the record because he's pretty selfless. At the same time, if the business requires him to go over - so be it. I'm very intrigued by it. I'd like to see it happen." [2:33 - 3:00]

Triple H reveals John Cena's mindset ahead of his WWE Farewell Tour

The former Franchise Player of WWE is going to be asked one question a lot - what his mindset is heading into his Farewell Tour. That is an extension of questions like what his goals are, whether there are any specific stars he wants to face, etc.

Speaking on the SI Media Podcast, Triple H revealed that John Cena had a similar mindset to what he did at the end of his career, and it had nothing to do with headlining WrestleMania or winning a World Title:

"A lot of people talk about this. I talked about it and didn't have the opportunity necessarily just because of my health, but like John [Cena] has the same sort of mindset that I did at the end [of my career], where like I just wanna go to all the places I went, sort of. That meant something and sort of go there one more time, almost like to say, 'Thank you' to those people. It's not about I gotta main event WrestleMania one more time, or I gotta be the main event of this TV show, or I gotta win the [World] Title again. It's none of that. It's one last loop," The Game said. [From 44:37 - 45:12]

It won't be surprising to see Cena not win another World Championship. But there is a big argument in favor of it, but many argue that it isn't needed. While technically true that Cena winning a 17th World Title isn't needed to tell a great story, the question remains as to whether it makes for great television.
