In some disappointing news for Seth Rollins fans, the current WWE star has revealed that he has been erased from a highly-awaited upcoming project. The Messiah has confirmed that his role in the upcoming Marvel movie, Captain America: Brave New World, has been officially axed.
Nearly two years back, pictures of Rollins shooting for the upcoming Marvel project surfaced on the internet. As expected, it got the wrestling universe buzzing about the prospect of seeing the WWE Superstar make inroads into Hollywood.
However, Rollins has now revealed that his role will no longer feature in the final cut of the movie. In a chat with Chris Van Vliet on his INSIGHT podcast, Seth Rollins explained that since the movie underwent several rewrites and reshoots over the past couple of years, he would not be seen in its theatrical version:
Will John Cena beat Ric Flair's record? A former WCW Champion thinks so HERE
“It releases in February. I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film. [What happened?] Well, does my NDA still apply if I’m not in the film anymore? Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased. So I did do a bit of an audition to possibly pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I’m not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it," said Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins discloses retirement plans
Elsewhere in the same chat, Rollins discussed when he plans to call it quits from active in-ring competition as he's been performing at the highest level for more than a decade in WWE. He stated that owing to the relaxed Live Event schedule in the company, he can stretch his career beyond the two years he had in mind:
“I think about it all the time. I am 38; I will be 39 in May. I think I’ve got more than a couple years left in me. The dynamic of the industry has shifted so much. I’m not wrestling 200 times a year anymore. I’m not on the road 300 days a year anymore. Live Events, non-televised events have kind of dissipated, which for me, guys like me, I’ve wrestled over 2,000 matches in my career, that’s nice for me. It’s just like riding a bike for me. We’ll see how it is for people coming up who need that experience; we’ll see what that looks like in a few years," Rollins said.
Seth Rollins suffered a major setback on this week's WWE RAW, where he lost to his arch-rival CM Punk during the show's Netflix debut.
