Shane McMahon personally called a former WWE star after the latter was released by the company last year. Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, shared details of his conversation with The Prodigal Son and how he appreciated the gesture.

The former WWE Hardcore Champion recently resurfaced on Netflix's docuseries, Mr. McMahon. It gave an insight into his relationship with Vince McMahon and how Shane yearned to get the approval of his father. The veteran finally got a seal of approval from Vince after his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32. The 54-year-old last appeared on WWE TV at WrestleMania 39. Earlier this year, it was reported that he was no longer contracted to the Stamford-based company.

Meanwhile, Nemeth reacted to the documentary in a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio. The reigning TNA World Champion was released by the Sports Entertainment juggernaut in September 2023. During the conversation, the erstwhile Dolph Ziggler revealed that Shane was the first one to call him after his release, adding that The Prodigal Son ''had really nice things to say!''

"One of the absolute first people [Shane McMahon] who called me when I left WWE, which is awesome because that's just says about [him]. You know everyone can send you a text and do things like he called, and he does phone calls and not texts and just had really nice things to say, and I've always liked working with him," Nemeth said. Nic Nemeth comments on his experience working with Shane McMahon

In the same episode of Busted Open Radio, Nic Nemeth opened up about his ''awesome'' experience working with Shane McMahon backstage.

The former WWE Superstar praised the 54-year-old's ideas and love for the business, adding that Shane was a ''very business-oriented normal guy.''

"Someone who grew up in the business and had all these ideas when I was around; it was awesome! It was like a breath the fresh air seeing him when he would walk in. And then there's some other times where it's like, 'Hey, what are you doing here?' He's like, 'I got the call. I got to come in.' And you're like, 'Okay, great.' So it's like whether his character was like a heel or a face or people were like, 'Hey, I don't want him here' or 'Hey, he's finally here; this is so cool!' In real life behind the scenes, he was a very business-oriented normal guy," Nemeth said. [2:43-3:23]
