Shawn Michaels is the mastermind behind the resurgence of NXT that we've seen in the last few years - and he's done a good deal to give the brand a makeover. As the NXT-ECW show went on air tonight, he made a big tease.
This week's NXT went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite due to the scheduling issues brought about by the United States Presidential Election. To make things spicy, Shawn Michaels and his team in NXT decided to hold a special show in the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
Unsurprisingly, there were likely ECW and other veterans present backstage before the show. Shawn Michaels, as he was promoting the NXT-ECW show three minutes into the live taping, mentioned he saw some familiar faces.

The NXT-ECW show has a stacked card, starting with the first-ever Women's Hardcore match in NXT history between Lola Vice and Jaida Parker. It looks like this rendition of the brand is more compatible with ECW than the previous version was.
HBK has certainly stepped up in a big way as the NXT Women's division is considered by some to be the deepest and most stacked in all of WWE.
The 2300 Arena was a great choice as it has historic value while giving it the intimate feel of old shows.
