WWE Superstar Sheamus has earned his beloved veteran status in the eyes of a large fanbase all over the world. He continues to perform at an elite level on the flagship show Monday nights.

Unfortunately for the Irishman, he failed to seal a spot at the 2024 Money in the Bank Ladder Match this week as Drew McIntyre took it away. Nevertheless, the duo and Ilja Dragunov put on an exceptional main event that was easily one of the best matches of the night.

Taking to Instagram, Sheamus shared a hilarious meme-worthy post with a screenshot of him arriving at the TD Garden in Boston ahead of WWE RAW, although the image might have been edited:

He captioned his post with, "Have a fella! day today😉"

It appears WWE is taking things slow with Sheamus, and the former World Heavyweight Champion is a true company man. He still has some things worth chasing even though his heyday might be behind him.

That does not stop the Irishman from putting on great matches and, possibly even winning the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.

WWE has laid the groundwork for a battle between two powerhouses

While Sami Zayn remains the undisputed Intercontinental Champion of WWE, his reign has not seen a bigger challenge than what he is up against this Saturday night at Money in the Bank.

The Underdog will defend his belt against NXT import Bron Breakker, who is slowly carving out a place for himself on the flagship show. It is evident that Triple H and Co. views Breakker highly, so his hoisting a main roster title so early in his career is naturally the right way to go about it.

Bron Breakker and Sheamus were put together in backstage and in-ring segments over the last few weeks. It is not out of the realm of possibility that The Celtic Warrior goes after the former NXT Champion should the latter walk out of Scotiabank Arena as the new Intercontinental Champion.

If not, WWE has also teased a potential three-way title program involving all the three aforementioned men. Whatever the case may be, Sheamus looking to win the one belt he needs to before calling it a career is a compelling narrative in and of itself.

The trick is in how WWE's creative team utilizes this angle. Will they give Sheamus his moment after the Irish-born wrestler gave his all to the company for many years, or is it so that the Irishman does not stand a chance against Bron Breakker?

Bear in mind that Sami Zayn is not one to be left out of the equation as well. After all, he is the one who ended Gunther's undefeated run on the main roster at WrestleMania XL in April.
