Shinsuke Nakamura defeated LA Knight at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30 to win the United States Championship. Despite the victory, former WWE writer Vince Russo is unconvinced about the Japanese star's booking.

The Wrestlelamia X account recently posted a graphic about several WWE wrestlers' win/loss records under Triple H's leadership in 2024. Including live events, statistics show Nakamura lost 52 of his 56 matches throughout the year.

Russo appeared on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws alongside host Dr. Chris Featherstone and former WWE talent EC3. Reacting to the X post, the one-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion said Nakamura is not "over" with fans:

"Bro, it had their win/loss records in like their last 60 matches," Russo said. "EC3, every one of these guys were like five [wins] and 55 [losses]. And, bro, and I'm looking at this and I'm like, okay, bro, is it a secret that none of these four are over?" [4:35 – 4:55]

Vince Russo explains why Shinsuke Nakamura's record matters

In the late 1990s, Vince Russo was WWE's head writer when Jeff Jarrett held the Intercontinental Championship.

Russo recalled how Jarrett's win/loss ratio did not matter because writers protected the current AEW star's character when he lost. By contrast, he thinks Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Shinsuke Nakamura are made to look weak when they lose matches:

"I'll never forget when Double J was the Intercontinental Champion," Russo continued. "He came to me one day and he says, 'Vince, you know I never won a match.' As the Intercontinental Champion, Jeff never won a match but, bro, what we did was we protected him in his losses. These guys have these horrible win/loss records. They don't protect them when they lose! They just beat these guys clean, and then you wonder why you've got four guys like this that are not over." [4:59 – 5:38]

Russo also questioned why WWE failed to capitalize on Nakamura's popularity when he won the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble match.
