In what was said to be a very competitive match, Johnny Gargano would beat Alex Shelley in the latter's first-ever singles match in WWE.
It wouldn't have been how Alex Shelley wanted to get his singles debut started, but he put on a great effort with an opponent who he has great chemistry with.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens in the fallout of all of this as SmackDown's Tag Team division is looking exciting.
Perhaps Chris Sabin vs Tommaso Ciampa will be on the cards next.
