Triple H may have sent a very subtle message based on the result of one particular match during the SmackDown tapings for December 20. For those not aware, next week's edition of SmackDown was taped after tonight's show.

One of the big decisions that fans found frustrating on the December 13 episode of SmackDown had to do with Carmelo Hayes. One of the hottest up-and-comers on the main rosters found himself in a mystery opponent situation and he was absolutely squashed in a little over a minute by the returning Braun Strowman - who was absent for nearly 75 days.
However, in the tapings that took place later in the night for the December 20 show, Carmelo Hayes picked up a win over Braun Strowman - and this was very likely Triple H's way of telling fans to be patient when it comes to superstars who are slated for a future push.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
It's clear as day that Triple H is not the type of booker who pushes most people right away. His approach seems to be more of a slow-burning build-up - especially for younger WWE stars on the roster, like Carmelo Hayes, who aren't as proven on the big stage.
It, however, also speaks volumes of his intentions for Braun Strowman - and it seems like there may not be any concrete plan in place.
We are assuming that the Grayson Waller Effect segment transitioned into the rematch.
