Stone Cold Steve Austin cemented his status as one of WWE's all-time greats in the mid-to-late 1990s. In a recent interview, The Texas Rattlesnake recalled how legendary boxer and WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson often got his name wrong.
In 1998, Austin defeated Shawn Michaels to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 14. Tyson served as a special enforcer for the match and jumped in the ring to count the iconic superstar's pinfall victory.
Speaking on the Bobby Bones YouTube channel, Austin revealed that Tyson called him "Cold Stone" whenever they interacted:
"Goddang, Mike Tyson used to always call me Cold Stone. Motherf****r, that's an ice cream shop! My name is Stone Cold Steve Austin." [0:04 – 0:15]
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
Tyson's contributions to the wrestling business were recognized in 2012 when he joined the WWE Hall of Fame. D-Generation X members Shawn Michaels and Triple H inducted him into WWE's illustrious group of legends.
Steve Austin's rookie mistake with another WWE Hall of Famer
In the same interview, Steve Austin opened up about his early days in the wrestling business in the United States Wrestling Association (USWA).
The 59-year-old said he once made a fool of himself in a match against 2007 WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler:
"I did a tackle, dropdown, and I didn't know who was supposed to hip toss who and it was a clusterf**k that ensued from there, and Jerry Lawler was booking the territory at the time and I'm sure he was thinking to himself, 'Why in the f**k did I book this match with this punk kid?'" Austin continued. [1:27 – 1:42]
Several years later, Austin won his first WWE Championship on the night of Mike Tyson's involvement at WrestleMania 14. He went on to capture the title another five times while becoming one of the biggest draws in wrestling history.
