WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the greatest superstars in the Stamford-based company's history. However, a wrestling veteran recently disclosed that The Texas Rattlesnake was worried fans would not remember him when he returned in 2019.

Austin made a few appearances on RAW five years ago. On the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman recalled an emotional conversation with the Hall of Famer before the latter headed to the ring. He claimed The Texas Rattlesnake was worried fans would not know who he was.

The former RAW color commentator said that he reminded the 59-year-old that he was one of the greatest legends in history:

"Stone Cold Steve Austin is standing there backstage and he looks at me and you could tell he was unbelievably nervous. And he's like: 'Coach, I'm so nervous. What if they don't remember me?' And I looked at him and I said: 'You are Stone Cold Steve Austin. There's only ever been one. And he went out there, I don't know if you guys remember this, he actually said my name on the microphone. He said, 'I was just backstage. The Coach was talking to me and he reminded me of who the hell I am,'" he said. [47:47 - 48:13]

Will Stone Cold Steve Austin have one more match in WWE?

In 2022, Stone Cold Steve Austin returned to the ring for the first time in nearly two decades to defeat Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38. On a recent episode of A&E Legends Biography, The Texas Rattlesnake addressed whether he would compete again inside the squared circle.

The WWE Hall of Famer claimed he was happy with what he did and had nothing to prove to anyone:

"I walked away. I'm happy with what I did. There's people who've done more, [and] lasted longer. I had a pretty good run, I'm pretty happy with it. So, I ain't got nothing to prove to nobody," he said.

Kevin Owens recently addressed his experience sharing the ring with Austin, stating that he felt "lucky." It will be interesting to see if The Texas Rattlesnake will ever wrestle again.
