Is Brock Lesnar coming back to WWE? Fans have been asking this question since he was referenced not once but two times on RAW last week. Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts recently explained the possible reason behind the not-so-subtle mention of The Beast.
The first reference came from Brock Lesnar's fierce rival, Seth Rollins, who reminded Adam Pearce that he had "slayed a Beast" before in hopes of getting a match against Bronson Reed.
Moments later, Cody Rhodes came face-to-face with Gunther in the ring, where he said he had already "slain a frightening Beast." Both the references caused a stir on social media, with rumors surfacing that WWE and Lesnar have had talks about his comeback.
Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts said he doesn't think the apparent reference will lead to The Beast Incarnate's return anytime soon.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Of course, he's [Cody Rhodes] talking about Brock Lesnar. But I don't think this is the first reference to Brock Lesnar that's been on television since January. Well, look, I don't think that the reference itself is evidence of an imminent return. I don't know if he's gonna return or not, but I don't think that them making reference to him is evidence of that in any way shape, or form," Roberts said.
The backstage analyst thinks WWE is presenting its product differently under the new regime and there's no iron wall around it like before that steered clear of mentioning controversial names on TV.
"I don't think they're insulting fans' intelligence anymore. I don't think that they're sitting there going like, 'We know that you know this, but we're gonna pretend it never happened, hopefully, you'll forget.' So I think that that's more what it is that the idea that Cody Rhodes stepping up to Gunther, Cody can't say I've never taken on somebody as, like, sort of big menacing and unbeatable as you before, because he has. He's done it three times. And I just think that they're unwilling to ignore that in this era, and I think that's a really, really good thing," he added. (From 45:09 to 49:10)
Will Brock Lesnar wrestle again in WWE?
Speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff questioned whether Brock Lesnar has anything left to achieve in WWE.
"Brock's got enough money he could live the next three lives... His kids will never be able to spend the money that Brock has made, and beyond the money, Brock has farming. That's his joy, that's his passion, that's where Brock is at peace based on what I've heard...What's Brock gonna do that he hasn't done a dozen times in the last dozen years?"
The Beast Incarnate's WWE future looks cloudy amid the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon.
