Former SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long appeared on both nights of the WWE Draft 2023 alongside fellow Hall of Famer JBL to announce some of the latest draft picks. He recently revealed a big observation he made about the current backstage situation in WWE.
On the latest episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, Teddy Long sat down with wrestling journalist Bill Apter and co-host Mac Davis, reflecting on the WWE Draft. As a part of catering, he had the chance to sit down and observe what was happening.
Teddy Long told both Mac Davis and Bill Apter that catering is sometimes the place to be:
"Catering is sometimes the place to be, man. Just sit down and reminisce about stuff and just sit back and watch people. It's entertaining, I'm telling you." (2:50-2:58)

He added an observation that many of the younger superstars aren't very settled or relaxed and advised them to take it easy while also understanding their point of view:
"It ain't that bad. I just look at them sometimes and they take it so seriously. Nothing wrong with that, but just settle down, and relax a bit. Some of them you know, they're just wound up. But they're excited, they're young and they all want to do good in the business, and I understand that. But all they need to do is just relax, that's it." (3:10-3:32)

Teddy Long was full of praise for Zelina Vega
Zelina Vega recently fell short to Rhea Ripley in a great SmackDown Women's title match at Backlash. She received a lot of love from her native country Puerto Rico and WWE fans across the world.
When they were analyzing LWO's draft to SmackDown, it was mentioned that Zelina Vega could be getting a big push, and Teddy Long hopes to see that happen:
"Well, they should. She [Zelina Vega] has a really nice attitude. And I watched her go over one of her matches the other night. I sat back and watched. She's very serious about her work and she wants it real bad. Outstanding lady, I hope all good things happen for her too." (12:10-12:30)
