Teddy Long was full of praise for one particular SmackDown Superstar who excelled at Backlash 2023 despite falling short. This was before the event took place, but even then, the Hall of Famer wished only good things for the 32-year-old.
The superstar in question is Zelina Vega. She recently performed in her native home of Puerto Rico at Backlash 2023, challenging for the SmackDown Women's Championship. Although she fell short against Rhea Ripley, Vega received a lot of love and praise in defeat.
On the latest episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, co-host Mac Davis pointed out that Zelina Vega looks to be in line for a big push. Meanwhile, Teddy Long expressed his support for Vega and mentioned that WWE should push the star.
"Well, they should. She [Zelina Vega] has a really nice attitude. And I watched her go over [in] one of her matches the other night. I sat back and watched. She's very serious about her work, and she wants it real bad. Outstanding lady, I hope all good things happen for her too." (12:10 - 12:30)

Teddy Long revealed what he saw backstage at catering during the WWE Draft
Teddy Long was present for both nights of the 2023 WWE Draft to announce some of the picks for RAW and SmackDown alongside JBL. He mentioned that catering is the place to be as it allows veterans like him to sit down and reminisce about old times.
He also noted that he noticed many superstars who weren't relaxed and seemed wound up:
"I just look at them sometimes, and they take it so seriously. Nothing wrong with that, but just settle down, and relax a bit. Some of them you know, they're just wound up. But they're excited, they're young and they all want to do good in the business, and I understand that. But all they need to do is just relax, that's it." (3:12 - 3:32)
