Wrestling veteran Konnan recently shared his take on Jey Uso getting emotional during his promo on RAW. The star cut a heartfelt promo on the September 30 episode of the Monday Night show.
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo criticized Uso's promo, calling the title a prop and claiming there was no need to get emotional about the win. This remark did not sit well with Rikishi, and the veteran fired shots at Russo. The Hall of Famer even called out Vince to a fight.
On a recent episode of Keepin' IT 100, Konnan sided with Rikishi and Jey Uso. The veteran claimed that wrestling stars were subjected to much pressure during their time on the road. He claimed it was natural for Jey to get emotional when he won the Intercontinental Championship after working in WWE for over a decade as part of a tag team.
"Rikishi brought something up. He goes, my son is out there, traveling away from his family, so is Vince Russo, but there's a big difference. Vince wasn't wrestling. That's a whole other thing. People don't understand is you go out on the road, besides the fact that you're leaving your family, you gotta get your tanning in, you gotta get your weight training in. There's a certain way you've gotta act, a certain way you've gotta dress, times have to be met, meet and greets, there is so much pressure it's unbelievable. This guy after 16 years of being a tag team finally won his first title, of course he's gonna get emotional. That was a very odd take." [From 3:45 - 4:32]

The writer was disheartened that Rikishi would go personal and call him out just for voicing his opinion.
Jey Uso is one of the most popular babyfaces on the RAW roster and the company is also firmly behind him. It will be interesting to see how his title reign pans out over the coming months.
