Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently spoke about Drew McIntyre's appearance from SmackDown last night. The star appeared in the opening segment of the show.
Solo Sikoa and the rest of The New Bloodline kicked off this week's SmackDown. Sikoa went off about his upcoming match against Roman Reigns but was soon interrupted by The Scottish Warrior. McIntyre walked up to the faction and asked if they were worried he would target them next. Soon Jimmy Uso showed up and attacked Drew with a crutch.
This week on Smack Talk, Mantell detailed that having Drew McIntyre show up on the blue brand was a major surprise. He felt these subtle things allowed WWE to keep fans guessing every week and it was a great setup to start the show:
"Sometimes when you open with that, people say, 'It's more of the same.' But when Drew showed up, I didn't expect him to show up. That's what you're not expecting. And that's what keeps you saying, 'okay what are they gonna do with this?' So it was well set up and well done. And then it worked right into a six-man, which was good." [From 17:40 to 17:58]
