A former superstar has offered a hilarious explanation as to why he isn't a part of the WWE roster anymore.
Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, became a massive star on the independent scene after he left WWE. During his run in the company, Matt won the United States and the Intercontinental Championship. He also captured the tag titles twice with former superstar Curt Hawkins. However, Cradona found a ton of success outside of the company and retained the AIW Absolute Championship last night by defeating Sam Holloway at AIW Gauntlet For The Gold 16.
Blake Christian, formerly known in WWE as Trey Baxter, took to Twitter today and sent a message to Cardona. Blake sent a photo of several action figures and noted that Cardona's wasn't tan. Matt then responded and hilariously claimed that he left WWE due to his action figure not being tan enough when he was actually a part of the company's releases during the pandemic.
"That’s why I left WWE. They weren’t making my figs tan or jacked enough," tweeted Matt Cardona.
Matt Cardona details what it would take for him to return to WWE
Matt Cardona recently disclosed what it would take for him to return to the company.
WWE released many superstars during the pandemic due to the Covid-19 budget cuts, and some have flourished outside of the company. Cardona recently stated on the Heated Shenanigans podcast that he wouldn't return to the promotion unless he was a valued member of the roster.
"I'm not gonna come back to, you know, just be on the show. I would never go back just to be back. I've been on the roster. I was there. Very fortunate for my time there. Spent over a decade there. But I did the whole just the guy on the roster thing. I have no desire to do that again. If I'm gonna be there, I wanna matter. And I think I proved over the past three years that I'm more than capable of holding my own. And if I ever get that opportunity again, I think I'll prove that to the world," he said. [5:16 - 5:51]
However, Matt Cardona's wife, Chelsea Green, returned to the company during the Women's Royal Rumble match in January and has already become a star on the main roster. It will be interesting to see if the 38-year-old ever returns to the company or finishes his career elsewhere.
