Drew McIntyre made his presence felt in a big way on WWE SmackDown. The Scottish Warrior took out Jimmy Uso with a claymore, days after he took out both Jey Uso and Sami Zayn on Monday Night RAW.
On the latest BroDown podcast on Backstage Pass, Vince Russo was asked if WWE missed an opportunity by not having McIntyre confront Aldis while they were walking through the Gorilla. For context, Russo had criticized Aldis for his "paperwork" line on SmackDown, noting that it didn't make sense.
"Are you asking me why didn't they do that? (Because) that wouldve meant more paperwork (chuckles). I mean, bro, if he (Aldis) gotta do paperwork on Jimmy Uso, can you imagine if he gets attacked? He's gonna have so much paperwork he's gonna be there till Wednesday." [07:34 onwards]
Drew McIntyre made headlines prior to WWE SmackDown as well, when he walked out during a podcast appearance. The former world champion was a guest on Busted Open Radio's Holiday Party when he verbally eviscerated the internet wrestling community before storming out of the show.
"When I leave, when I retire, I'll have accomplished everything. It doesn't matter if you're Mark Henry, Bully Ray, Tommy Dreamer, Drew McIntyre, or Stone Cold Steve Austin—you're gone, they move on. They forget, and it sucks, but it's true. So, as far as I'm concerned when it comes to the internet, I don't give a f**k about your opinion." [1:07:08 onwards]
McIntyre is set to battle Sami Zay in singles action at Saturday Night's Main Event this week. It remains to be seen which of these two superstars will get their hand raised after the match.
