The Hardy Boyz have had Hall of Fame careers in WWE. The duo of Matt and Jeff Hardy recently addressed a potential first-time-ever match against former tag team champions, the Motor City Machine Guns. They are willing to come back to the Stamford-based promotion to wrestle the SmackDown tag team.
Matt and Jeff Hardy were signed to AEW before moving to TNA Wrestling last year. Despite arguably achieving almost everything in professional wrestling, The Hardy Boyz still have some first-ever matches left in the business. One such bout could come against Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.
The Motor City Machine Guns arrived in WWE in October 2024 and won the Tag Team Championship by defeating The Bloodline.
In a recent chat on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, The Hardys noted how they haven't had a match against the Motor City Machine Guns. Jeff said he and Matt were willing to make the bout possible. He also spoke about another popular team, The Rascalz, whom they will be facing soon for the first time ever.

"I know Matt mentioned this, I hadn’t really thought about it at all, but we’ve never had a match with the Motor City Machine Guns. Being that they’re back in [WWE] now and killing it, and The Rascalz was the other team, but we’re about to bring that into reality. So yeah, it was The Rascalz and the Motor City Machine Guns that we had never had a match with, but this one with The Rascalz is about to go down." [H/T: Fightful]
The Hardy Boyz returned to WWE in 2017
The Hardys returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33 before a ladder match for the RAW Tag Team Championship. Matt and Jeff won the title at The Show of Shows to kick off their run. However, injuries got the better of both stars, as their run as a tag team was short-lived.
Matt Hardy went on to introduce his Woken gimmick to fans, while Jeff Hardy once again became The Charismatic Enigma, winning the Intercontinental and the United States championships. Matt left WWE in 2020, and Jeff Hardy departed from the global juggernaut in 2021.
Fans will have to wait and see whether The Hardys return to the Stamford-based promotion in 2025 through its working relationship with TNA Wrestling.
