The Motor City Machine Guns open up on "dream come true" moment after SmackDown debut

The latest episode of SmackDown introduced The Motor City Machine Guns to the WWE Universe. The duo of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin put everyone in the tag team division on notice with their impressive performance.

Shelley and Sabin are often credited with revolutionizing modern-day tag team wrestling. The two stars are former three-time TNA World Tag Team Champions. This week, they emerged victorious against Los Garza (Angel and Berto) and A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) in a Number One Contenders Tag Team Championships tournament match.

WWE correspondent Byron Saxton caught up with The Motor City Machine Guns on SmackDown LowDown. Chris Sabin said they had been looking to accomplish this goal for the last twenty years. He stated that it was surreal to think that they were just one match away from getting a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships.

"It's pretty surreal, you know. I'd like to say it's a dream come true, but it's more than that. It's a goal accomplished for us. It might have taken us 20 years to get here and to get to this position, but being one match away from being the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships, that's pretty crazy. The Motor City Machine Guns are ready to take on DIY

While The Motor City Machine Guns won their match, DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) also advanced to the next round, defeating Pretty Deadly and The Street Profits. The two tandems will collide next for an opportunity to challenge The Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Alex Shelley claimed that the faction came to WWE for an opportunity to take down all the tag teams in the company and reign supreme as the best tag team on the planet.

"We take things one step at a time, but DIY is exactly why we came to the WWE. Exactly why we want to declare ourselves as the best tag team on the planet because we beat all the tag teams that already exist in the WWE Universe. So I apologize to you in advance DIY, but you're looking at the next WWE Tag Team Champions." [From 2:50 - 3:10]
