The Rock has "lost a little bit of his shine" due to his political actions, says Vince Russo (Exclusive)

While The Rock is still one of the greatest names in WWE history, former writer Vince Russo believes he has lost a significant part of his fanbase.

Before his return to the Stamford-based promotion, Dwayne Johnson had talked about the chances of him joining the Presidential race. Furthermore, he made a few comments about the Democratic party and Joe Biden, which sparked a reaction from the masses.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo explained why this may have affected The Rock's popularity in the pro-wrestling fanbase as well.

"I think the dude for doing some political things that really p*ssed a lot of people off. And bro you gotta understand, we got sides here bro. You are either on this side or you are on that side... When Rock is on there with Biden and Kamala (Harris), you got a whole other side that's like, 'Are you effing kidding me?'" [9:46 onwards]

The Rock had previously talked about the chances of him running for president

A while back, the WWE legend had considerable support behind him to run for president. However, he declined the proposition.

In conversation with Trevor Noah on the first episode of the What Now? podcast, the WWE legend had commented on the noticeable backing he had from the masses to join the presidential race.

“That was an interesting poll that happened and I was really moved by that. I was really blown away and I was really honored... I’ll share this little bit with you: at the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run and if I could run." [31:05-31:30]

In the end, The Rock had declined to join the race for the time being.
