WWE legend and TKO board member The Rock is seemingly planning a massive match at WrestleMania 41. Although he claimed it would be the "biggest of all time," The Final Boss refused to reveal more details.
After nearly eight years of absence from in-ring competition, The Rock returned to the squared circle earlier this year to team up with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of WrestleMania XL. Meanwhile, he promised to go after The American Nightmare upon his return from his current hiatus.
While many fans anticipate the return of The Final Boss, the latter addressed competing in the "biggest match of all time" at next year's Showcase of the Immortals in a recent interview with ESPN:
"We're on the 1-yard line to create the biggest WrestleMania of all time and the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. I'll just leave it at that, Final Boss style," he said. [H/T: ESPN]
Cody Rhodes addressed potentially facing The Rock in WWE
The Rock returned to the Stamford-based company to go head-to-head against his cousin, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania XL. However, the plans changed due to the fans' reaction to Cody Rhodes forfeiting his shot to The Final Boss. The latter then turned heel and joined forces with Reigns and The Bloodline.
While The Rock's recent tease could lead to him turning on his cousin to set up the match he initially wanted at WrestleMania 41, he could also be hinting at a potential match with the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare recently addressed the possibility of facing The Final Boss in an interview with Esquire:
"I don’t want to use the word ‘trouble’, but it spells something brewing in the future. I don’t know with his schedule, if he’s ever going to come back [to wrestling more permanently]. But I do believe he will. And I believe he'll come looking for me. And I'll be right where he left me," he said.
While Rhodes is about to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle, The Rock and Roman Reigns are on hiatus. It would be interesting to see what happens upon their comeback.
