Two names synonymous with WWE are Vince McMahon and The Undertaker. The legends are directly responsible for much of the success of modern-day pro wrestling, especially the Stamford-based promotion. The Hall of Famer is now revealing more reasons why he stayed loyal and never jumped ship to WCW.

Mark Calaway had been wrestling for around two years when he signed up with NWA-WCW in late 1989. Known as "Paul E. Dangerously, aka Paul Heyman, briefly managed Mean Mark" Callous, the future WWE Champion. He began reaching out to WWE after having contract negotiations with WCW booker Ole Anderson and being told that no one would ever pay money to watch him in the ring. 'Taker gave notice to WCW before he even had the interview with McMahon, and initially, Vince passed on the signing but changed his mind a week later.

The Chairman signed The Phenom in October 1990; the rest was history. The WWE vs. WCW war saw many top talents jump ship. A few stars stayed loyal, most notably The Undertaker. He discussed the matter on his Six Feet Under podcast and recalled the former Diesel urging him to join the Atlanta-based promotion. He always thought back to what Ole told him.

"If WCW hadn't told me that I wasn't going to draw any money, I don't know what I would have done. I don't. The fact that they told me, 'You're never going to make money,' that was always the chip I carried on my shoulder. Even when they called. I remember Nash calling me, 'I think I can get you this if you want to come down.' ... 'Wow, that's a lot more money than I'm making right now.' I thought about it and was like, 'No.' That's what it came down to for me," The Undertaker said.

Taker recalled how rewarding the WWE success was and how people urged him to leave McMahon.

"Vince gave me the opportunity. 'This may be the worst decision I ever make, but he gave me the opportunity to become something.' I just couldn't do it. I would have made more money. I would have worked a lot less. I probably would have been in a situation where I would have been welcomed back, maybe not, but the fact that I stayed, got my a** kicked, we all got ours a***s kicked, and then turned it all around and made the greatest comeback ever. It was really rewarding. A lot of people told me, 'You need to take the money,'" The Undertaker said. [H/T to Fightful]

The Undertaker praises WWE Superstar

The Dead Man recently discussed the WWE product and said things have turned a corner as there's a little more storytelling. He recalled how Gunther had a backstage moment with his son, Kolt.

The WWE Hall of Famer also praised the Imperium leader for his work.

"Gunther's my guy. Two years ago, he had about a 10-minute conversation with my little boy. My little boy is fascinated by him... Kolt is fascinated by him. They had a conversation, out of the clear blue, and he sat there and just talked to him. That's not why he's my guy... he's my guy because he knows how to work, and tell a story. But, yeah... I'm really high on him," The Undertaker said.

Taker agreed that Gunther is a future world champion. The 36-year-old will get a chance to bring home the World Heavyweight Championship when he challenges Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam on August 3.
