The Usos are "one of the funnest"; former WWE star recalls making history by beating Bloodline members 8 years ago

A former WWE champion recently discussed beating The Usos eight years ago to make history in the Stamford-based promotion. The champion being referred to is Heath Slater.

The One Man Band joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 2006 and started performing for the company's then-developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling (DSW). The 41-year-old gained massive popularity after becoming part of The Nexus in 2010. During his WWE career, he was also a member of another popular faction, 3MB, which consisted of Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal as well.

During a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Heath Slater was asked about him and Rhyno making history by becoming the first-ever SmackDown Tag Team Champions. They defeated The Usos on September 11, 2016, at the Backlash Premium Live Event.

The former Nexus member said the win meant a lot because it would always stay in the history books of WWE. Slater also mentioned that defeating a tag team like The Usos made it even better because he felt Jey and Jimmy were a fun duo to go up against.

"It meant a lot, man. It did mean a lot. One, because we were the first ever Tag Team Champions and it goes down in the history books. And two, we got to wrestle The Usos and they are one of the funnest [sic] tag teams to work as a heel. So, it was like one of those things where like it was a win-win all around for that match," he said. [0:27 - 0:50]

Heath Slater wants Triple H to bring back The Nexus in WWE

During the same interview, Heath Slater said it was amazing how people still talked about The Nexus because the stable was disbanded within months of its formation on television.

The former SmackDown Tag Team Champion then asked Triple H to bring the stable back on WWE television, saying they have become men now.

"What really blows my mind about Nexus is that we were together for what, eight, nine months? People still talk about it 14 years later. Come on, man, listen, WWE, Hunter, think about it, baby. We're not boys no more. We're men. Imagine if we came back."

It will be interesting to see whether the Stamford-based promotion will bring back The Nexus on television once again.
