Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently spoke about Kevin Owens having issues with former WWE manager Jim Cornette. The two men have had their differences for years.
In 2009, Jim Cornette signed a deal with Ring of Honor (ROH) to be their executive producer. He worked with several up-and-coming stars in that promotion, including Kevin Owens, who wrestled as Kevin Steen at that time. However, Cornette's traditional views of the business did not sit well with some of the performers, and they had some issues over creative differences.
Meltzer appeared on a recent episode of Keepin' IT 100 OFFICIAL. The veteran journalist mentioned that Cornette and Owens had different perspectives on a lot of business issues. The journalist also felt that Kevin's weight may have been a problem for Jim, leading to the eventual fallout between the two men. However, Dave reiterated that Cornette always respected KO's talent and knew he would be a huge star in the future.
"I will say this about Cornette because I talked to him a lot during that period. He always did respect Owens' ability. I would say the same thing too. They had a real falling out about a lot of different business things. They had totally different philosophies. Cornette always respected Kevin Owens' talent. But he thought that he needed to lose weight. They didn't get along. They just had totally different philosophies on everything." [From 1:02 - 1:41]

Kevin Owens is currently involved in a major WWE storyline
In the aftermath of Bad Blood 2024, Kevin Owens shocked the world by attacking Cody Rhodes in the parking area. In the following weeks, he also had a falling out with another friend, Randy Orton.
WWE officials asked Owens to stay away from SmackDown this past week. The star was irate and took to social media to vent his frustrations. He pointed out that WWE stars have done much worse to each other and yet went back to work.
He even took issue with Randy Orton for not taking his side and getting physical instead. Owens wasn't sure when he would be back on TV and was having second thoughts on whether he should stay on with the company after all the disrespect.
