AEW is set to host its Dynamite: Blood & Guts special tonight and ahead of the show, a top star of the company has compared himself to WWE legends Randy Orton and John Cena. The star in question is none other than Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
Cena and Orton are two of the prominent stars of the industry and have cemented their names at the top through their immense hard work throughout the years. On the other hand, MJF has become one of the top entertainers in the industry in recent years after joining AEW in 2019. Friedman became the longest reigning AEW World Champion last year before dropping it to Samoa Joe at Worlds End pay-per-view. The Wolf of Wrestling recently won the International Championship by defeating Will Ospreay.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Friedman claimed that he's currently the most interesting man in professional wrestling, adding how some people deny seeing the greatness, while others admire it. MJF also compared himself to Cena as well as Orton in the process.
"I’m the most interesting man in professional wrestling. I’ve been that way since I laced up a pair of boots. There are two types of people: the ones who admit I’m probably the greatest overall package in the history of this sport, and then there are people who want to pretend they know better. They won’t admit what’s right in front of them. For years, people said John Cena was not the GOAT. They said Randy Orton was boring. Those people actually exist in the world. Those are the type of the people who see mediocrity when they look in the mirror, and you can quote me on that," he said.

Vince Russo compared Hulk Hogan to John Cena
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo had previously shared his honest opinion on Hulk Hogan being on top of the industry.
Speaking on an episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo stated how much he regrets not getting an opportunity to work with John Cena. He also heaped praise on The Cenation Leader and called him a 'pro.'
The veteran stated that although John Cena was great, he would still prefer to put Hogan on the top.
"I think Cena was great," Russo said. "I never got to work with Cena. That was a regret of mine. I think Cena was great. I think Cena is a pro's pro, no question about it, but I'm always gonna give that honor to Hogan." [From 04:14 – 04:26]
Maxwell Jacob Friedman was rumored to sign with WWE earlier this year after his AEW contract expired. However, Friedman revealed at Double or Nothing that he has re-signed with the young promotion and will never leave the company.
