The Heart and Soul of ECW, Tommy Dreamer, was recently interviewed by Wrestledelphia. During the interview, he expressed his opinions over several incidents that occurred in the world of wrestling recently.
Speaking about the Joey Styles controversy, Dreamer revealed that it was completely unnecessary and blamed the company for making the incident public, He believed that the entire situation could have been avoided. Here is what he had to say:
“I thought it was complete and utter BS. You can't fire somebody from an independent company unless you're giving them full-time salary. It did not have to be made public.
It could have just been 'hey, after the show I'm not going to use you anymore, thank you, and goodbye.”

Dreamer further went on to say that Styles is one of the nicest people he has ever met, He also thinks that Styles did not deserve the criticism he was getting.

Dreamer added:
“There was people then calling him racist, homophobic.
If there was ever a miscast upon somebody, where it got him to be so, I want to say upset, not even mad about the business, where he just stopped being on social media because he was heartbroken as an individual.
It was all BS, could have been avoided, should have been avoided, but it's ok because he moved forward.”
He also added that Joey Styles would be welcome at House Of Hardcore with open arms.
“Absolutely. He may happen to be a surprise Friday or Saturday, you never know what’s going to happen.”
Dreamer was questioned about the choice Curt Hawkins made by returning to the WWE rather than staying at the House Of Hardcore, Dreamer stated that he didn’t mind that as he also went through the same situation in his career and understands the importance of financial security.
Dreamer was quoted as saying:
“I lived through that in ECW. He was getting married. Eventually he wants to have children. He needed to go back.
Until you have the financial security as a business owner to provide people with jobs, you can't hold that against them. If he left WWE tomorrow, I'd use him the next day. It's ok."
Dreamer also spoke about the FloSlam deal which saw him invest $65000 and revealed that it was for the future of the company.
“It’s an investment in House of Hardcore’s future. You’ve got to spend money to make money.
I said it jokingly, but it wasn’t a joke: I didn’t tell my wife Beulah about it. And then literally, the next day, I found out both my kids need braces. It was like twelve grand, and I was like, oh my God.”
When asked about the speculation regarding Terry Funk’s health, Dreamer said that he was fine and the retirement just hit him harder than he thought. He also revealed that Funk was very emotional during his last appearance.
