Vince McMahon is battling his fair share of legal issues at the moment. However, a top AEW star has come out in his defense.
Bobby Lashley is the latest to comment on the Vince McMahon situation. The 79-year-old is one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling. He is solely responsible for building WWE into the global juggernaut it is today. Over the years, McMahon has managed to overcome several major legal troubles.
However, the former WWE Chairman faced a major setback earlier this year when a sexual harassment and sex trafficking lawsuit was filed against him by former employee Janel Grant. This also resulted in him resigning from TKO. Since then, many stars have distanced themselves from him. However, Bobby Lashley has now come to his defense.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, The All Mighty said that while Vince was going through a tough time at the moment, the 79-year-old helped feed a lot of people and their families. The AEW star added that Vince's business helped so many people put their kids through college. He also said that many people have more opportunities now because of McMahon.
“I know what this business has done for me and my family. Like, yeah, Vince is going through a whole bunch right now; we understand that, but Vince McMahon has personally fed thousands and thousands of people, and people don’t understand that. When you have a business like he created, there are so many people there are right now, the amount of mouths he has fed, and kids that he put through college, and houses that he’s helped buy," he said.
The former WWE Champion added:
"Like, there’s so much that people don’t understand that, yes, there are a lot of bad things going on with him right now. But because of that business we have, so many people are able to do things they probably never had an opportunity to do.” [H/T: Ringside News]
EC3 recently mocked Vince McMahon
EC3 worked under Vince McMahon during his second run in the Stamford-based company. Despite being a top star before arriving in the promotion in 2018, the 41-year-old was never really pushed. He was quickly promoted to the main roster from NXT but was barely used on TV and found himself trying to win the 24/7 Championship. Hence, while other stars have positive things to say about the former chairman, the same cannot be said about EC3.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, EC3 said that he regretted not standing up for himself and speaking to Vince about the latter's lack of direction. He then began to mock his former boss.
"I would have much rather gotten fired after cutting some scathing promo on this degenerate, bad, looney old man way past his prime; f***ing fake face; Botoxed-brain; f***ing s**t side part; sadistic se*ter!" he said. [14:00-14:24]
It will be interesting to see if Vince McMahon overcomes his current legal issues.
