Top WWE star got "dragged down" by the tag of "Paul Heyman Guy," says The Wiseman in brutally honest confession

WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman believes that a top current star was dragged down by the tag of "Paul Heyman Guy." The Wiseman was referring to CM Punk.

CM Punk recently joined Roman Reigns' team ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames. He was introduced as the fifth member of the squad by none other than Heyman, his former manager.

In a new interview with SHAK Wrestling, Heyman stated that the tag of being a "Paul Heyman Guy" ruined Punk's persona on WWE TV. Check out his full comments below:

"CM Punk battled against the perception that he was only a ‘Paul Heyman guy.' He got unfortunately dragged down by that tag. He became collateral damage to my fallout with management. Because of my fallout with management, he was tagged - that’s literally what they called him - ‘Oh yeah, the Paul Heyman guy.’" [H/T - CBS Sports]

WWE veteran Paul Heyman also called CM Punk "undeniable"

Heyman further said that Punk was a top star from the very first time he walked through the door. He then said that Punk fought against the perception that he was nothing more than a "Paul Heyman Guy."

"This guy was a magnificent performer, an all-time performer, a WrestleMania main eventer, a top-of-the-card-worthy performer from the moment he walked through the door. But he fought against that perception and proved himself through his hard work, connection with his audience, and the fact that no matter how stupid of a concept they threw at him, he made it work... He was undeniable. You just could not stop the progress, no matter how hard they were actually self-sabotaging their own product."

It's been over a decade since Punk held WWE's top title. He is still a massive needle mover and is one of the most popular entities in the pro wrestling business today. WWE fans can't wait to see him compete alongside the OG Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames.
