Every superstar dreams of winning a championship in WWE, and it's rather odd when someone passes up an opportunity. New Day member Kofi Kingston did something similar on RAW this week, leaving Vince Russo slightly surprised.
Amid a WWE storyline teasing the split of The New Day, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were involved in a backstage segment on the latest edition of RAW. Kofi told his partner that Jey Uso had proposed an Intercontinental title shot for him, which he decided to hand over to Xavier Woods.
While Woods was thrilled by Kingston's idea, former WWE head writer Vince Russo couldn't understand why a talent would deliberately ignore the chance to become a champion.
On Sportskeeda's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo said he had seen the same thing happen with Kevin Owens a few weeks ago and was pretty surprised and confused to see Kofi Kingston follow the suit.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Bro, please help me with this. Wasn't it Owens who just a couple of weeks was trying to turn down a title shot because he didn't deserve it? Okay, two weeks later now, Kofi is turning down a title shot that he is not interested in, so he's going to give it to Xavier. Why are they doing this? I don't understand it either," said Russo. Vince Russo stressed that the sole goal for any pro wrestler should be to capture a championship, and he didn't mince his words while criticizing Kofi Kingston's creative direction.
"This is namby-pamby, sissy-mary, girlie man stuff! The whole point of being a professional wrestler should be to win a title. That should be the whole point, not that you're giving shots to your buddies, bro. I don't get it." [29:31 - 30:20]

Kingston lost to Chad Gable on RAW after Xavier Woods tried to help his friend, but it all ended horribly for the former WWE Champion. The New Day breakup seems inevitable, and it could all happen when Xavier Woods takes on Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Championship.
