WWE currently has several top superstars playing babyface characters. A wrestling legend recently addressed whether one of these wrestlers would turn heel ahead of his anticipated clash with Cody Rhodes.
The superstar in question is none other than Kevin Owens. After helping The American Nightmare in his feud with The Bloodline, Rhodes offered him an Undisputed WWE Championship shot at Bash in Berlin, which The Prizefighter reluctantly accepted. Since then, many have wondered if the former Universal Champion would turn heel heading into the fight in the German capital.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Hall of Famer Mark Henry predicted that Owens would remain a babyface, claiming the company needs him in that spot. Meanwhile, the wrestling legend pointed out that the promotion does not need more heels:
"Yeah, it's gonna be a straightforward [match]. Kevin is at a place right now where they need another babyface. They don't need more heels," he said. [28:24 - 28:33]
Can Kevin Owens win his second world title in WWE?
Kevin Owens had a single run as a world champion between August 2016 and March 2017 when he held the Universal Championship. His only reign ended at the hands of Goldberg at Fastlane.
Since then, The Prizefighter has had multiple opportunities to capture another world championship. His last came at Royal Rumble 2023 against Roman Reigns. However, he failed to accomplish the mission. As he receives another shot to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin, it will be interesting to see if the 40-year-old can dethrone Cody Rhodes.
The American Nightmare and The Prizefighter have only squared off once in a one-on-one match. Their bout ended in a count-out win for Rhodes shortly after his return to WWE in 2022.
