Multi-time World Champion Triple H is the current head of creative. He took over the reins of the team from former Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
WWE's business has picked up over the last couple of years. The company has been doing record numbers, selling out every arena, and experiencing record sales for major premium live events. Most of this has come since the Endeavor takeover that also resulted in Triple H becoming the Chief Content Officer.
On a recent episode of Keepin' IT 100, Dave Meltzer mentioned that Triple H's booking strategy was very solid and consistent. He felt The Game wouldn't take big risks just to get a huge pop or reaction. Dave pointed out that WWE was doing solid numbers for their shows resulting from Triple H's great booking strategy and brilliant talent utilization.
"The numbers speak for themselves. He's been a very, very effective booker. He doesn't do outlandish things. Here's what I would say. He's never gonna make a giant mistake. He may not overreach and try something really crazy that might hit big. He's gonna be solid. That's the kind of booker he is. But the results speak for itself." [From 1:38 - 2:00]
Paul Heyman has tremendous power in the Triple H regime
During the same conversation, Meltzer indicated that Hunter was working with a great team of writers and wrestlers. He felt industry veterans like Paul Heyman had great pull backstage, leading to a better product.
"Well, he's got way better talent to work with than he had with NXT. With NXT, he was trying to teach people. Now, these are guys supposed to already be taught, and they are for the most part, almost all of them. He has a lot of input from a lot of people, obviously. I think everyone knows about Heyman being one of them who's got a lot of power now, for good reason," Meltzer said.
Meltzer added Hunter had the traits of a good promoter where he had his own vision but also took into account the ideas that other members of the creative team put forward.
